  Our next major event is PETSWALK 2008. 

For those of you who want to raise some money for our pets and have a lot of fun, please visit the PETSWALK 2008 tab for more information on planned events on May 31st and ways to help our furry friends.   We have had a significant number of sponsors and venders volunteer to assist in making this years event better than ever.  Better yet, there will be some new attractions to PETSWALK 2008, we will have a demonstration of dancing dogs, Search and Rescue demonstrations, police dog demonstrations and more.  There is still time to get a Team together and of course Individual applications are always welcome.  Compete against your friends or within your companies or between companies in generating the largest donation.  Make it fun!!  For those of you who read this that are not in the area, you don’t have to be present to generate the donations for us!  J
Our Rescue/Adoption Outreach program was extremely successful in the month of March and again in the month of April.   I am very pleased to report that in the month of March we had no dogs put down due to space and there were only three cats put down.  This is the first month in Kitsap Humane Society Hundred Year History that a dog was not put down due to lack of space to accommodate them!   And even greater news, in the month of April I am happy to report that no dogs or cats were euthanized for space.  Through the outstanding support of volunteers, our staff, and our board, we have been able to reach out to other rescue groups and shelters who are willing to take animals that are difficult to adopt for any number of reasons.  This program helps open up other “rooms” at our shelter versus having to euthanize for “space”.  They have been sent to local groups as well as groups in Western Washington and Northern Oregon.  As the numbers of intakes of  both dogs and cats increases as warmer days occur, our challenge will increase significantly.   In order to make this Rescue/Adoption Outreach program even more successful, we need donations to defray the cost of medicines, gas, ferry/toll costs, etc.  If you would like to make a donation please fill out the donation sheet by clicking the tab to the right (“You can Help – Donate”). 
We have adopted five of the nine horses we seized in January.  They are doing well in their new homes.   The remaining four are still in need of a home and if you know of anyone that needs a loving horse, let us know.  Additionally we gained three mustangs that need new homes also.  They were turned over to us in very good condition.  All the horses are available for a donation.  We continue to need of volunteers - if you would like to help in the care and feeding of these horses, please contact Judy at 360-692-6977 ext 132.
