
Job Title: Animal Care Technician

Reports to: Animal Care Lead
Essentials:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. This is a fast-paced and physical job requiring the ability to multi-task with proficiency. Excellent customer service skills are required.
Hours of operation and benefits:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Monday thru Sunday (Five day a week work schedule)
Weekend and holiday work required.
Full benefit package begins at the completion of 120 day trial period and includes holiday, sick leave and vacation pay.
Qualifications:
- Animal handling experience preferred
- Must possess professionalism, courtesy, tact and sound judgment
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in both a team and self-directed environment
- Able to work will under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Able to properly handle and control large, and or difficult dogs and cats
- Able to safely lift 50 lbs
- Able to work closely with animal dander/hair
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Caring for the animals (feeding, watering, cleaning)
- Performing constant inspections of all kennel areas for needed bedding, water and cleaning throughout the day
- Cleaning and sterilizing shelter and kennel areas using bleach and other chemicals
- Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout the facility in order to maintain standards of excellence
- Learning dog & cat breed characteristics and behavior and be able to communicate that knowledge
- Assisting customers in making proper matches for adoption of animals
- Assisting customers in locating lost pets
- Assisting customers turning in owned and stray animals
- Computer data entry with accuracy and speed
- Monitoring animals for disposition and health
- Vaccinating, worming and treating animals
- With training will work with aggressive animals
- With training will be required to euthanize animals
