  We have initiated an enhancement to our Outreach Program which will help ensure animals are adopted into new homes that might otherwise not happen.  Through the support of volunteers, our staff, and our board, we have been able to reach out to other rescue groups and shelters who are willing to take animals that are difficult to adopt for any number of reasons.  This program helps open up other “rooms” at our shelter versus having to euthanize for “space”.  In particular for the month of February we rescued 15 animals.  They went to local groups as well as groups in Western Washington.

As time goes on, we expect to have animals transported to Eastern Washington, Oregon and perhaps even British Columbia.  In order to make this program even more successful, we need donations to defray the cost of medicines, gas, ferry/toll costs, etc.  If you would like to make a donation please fill out the donation sheet by clicking the tab to the right (“You can Help – Donate”). 

The horses we seized in January are all doing very well.   We are in need of volunteers for the month of April - if you would like to help in the care and feeding of these horses, please contact Judy at 360-692-6977 ext 132.   

Our March 22 Wine Wags and Whiskers was a successful event.  We had over 100 guests and brought in over $8200.  Thank you to all who were able to attend and help our many pets.   A special thanks to Tuckers at Gold Mountain Golf Complex, Kitsap Sun, Jeff Berger, and the Bainbridge Island, the Fairwinds, and the Hoodsport Wineries for their support.

Please join us at our Outreach Event on Saturday March 29th  where we will be participating in the Military Appreciation Day at the Kitsap Mall – you can conveniently come and adopt a pet and/or obtain a microchip at the Mall in the North Parking Lot.    

Our next major event is PETSWALK 2008.  For those of you who want to raise some money for our pets and have a lot of fun, please visit the PETSWALK 2008 tab for more information on planned events on May 31st and ways to help our furry friends.   Sponsors and Venders are invited to check out how they can participate.  There are Team applications as well as Individual applications.

  Compete against your friends or within your companies or between companies in generating the largest donation.  Make it fun!!  For those of you who read this that are not in the area, you don’t have to be present to generate the donations for us!
