I, J. Fuentes, have been an Animal Control/Humane Officer (Level-3) with Kitsap Animal Control since April of 1995.  During that time I have received 640 hours of supervised on-the-job training in local and state animal control/welfare laws, animal care and health, breed recognition, aggressive animal handling, basic animal cruelty investigation, and was certified as a euthanasia technician.  I have graduated from the Animal Control Officers Academy certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (80 hours).  I have graduated from the National Horse Abuse Investigation School in Durango Colorado (40 hours).  I attended the Washington Animal Control Association training seminar for Supervisor/Lead Officers (16 hours). I attended the National Disaster Preparedness seminar sponsored by the Auburn Humane Society (16 hours).  Lastly, I have received training from the National Cruelty Investigation School (Level-1) certified by the University of Missouri (Columbia) Law Enforcement Training Institute in conjunction with the American Humane Association (80 hours).  I entered the Animal Control field from a retail management/customer service position, and have served in the United States Marine Corps.
